Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

You will need:

  • 425g cubed bread
  • 500ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 2 very ripe bananas, sliced
  • 175g milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius / Gas mark 4.
  2. Grease a 23 x 13 cm loaf tin.
  3. Take a large bowl and mix together the 4 eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the bread to the mixture and allow to soak for 5 – 10 minutes before pouring the mixture into the loaf tin.
  5. Then take a roasting tin and line it with a damp kitchen towel.
  6. Place the loaf tin on the towel inside the roasting tin, and place roasting tin in the oven.
  7. Fill the roasting tin with water, halfway up the sides of the loaf tin.
  8. Bake for 1 hour
  9. Test to see if it’s cooked through by inserting a metal skewer or knife and seeing if it comes out clean.
  10. Once cooked, turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool

Serve with a cup of proper Yorkshire tea!
