You will need:
- 425g cubed bread
- 500ml semi-skimmed milk
- 4 medium eggs
- 200g granulated sugar
- 2 very ripe bananas, sliced
- 175g milk chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius / Gas mark 4.
- Grease a 23 x 13 cm loaf tin.
- Take a large bowl and mix together the 4 eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla extract.
- Add the bread to the mixture and allow to soak for 5 – 10 minutes before pouring the mixture into the loaf tin.
- Then take a roasting tin and line it with a damp kitchen towel.
- Place the loaf tin on the towel inside the roasting tin, and place roasting tin in the oven.
- Fill the roasting tin with water, halfway up the sides of the loaf tin.
- Bake for 1 hour
- Test to see if it’s cooked through by inserting a metal skewer or knife and seeing if it comes out clean.
- Once cooked, turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool
Serve with a cup of proper Yorkshire tea!
